Managing Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Fundraiser Access
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising often involves individuals outside your organization—such as community leaders, corporate partners, or dedicated volunteers—who need to manage their own campaigns.
Our granular permission settings allow you to grant these external fundraisers access to the GiveDirect portal without exposing sensitive organization-wide financial data or other campaigns.
The P2P Access Strategy
To set up a P2P fundraiser user with the correct level of access, we recommend using the Designer or 3rd Party Fundraiser template as a starting point and then applying a Form Restriction.
Step 1: Create the User with the Correct Role
When adding the fundraiser as a new user, select the Designer or 3rd Party Fundraiser role. This pre-sets their account to:
- View/Edit Campaign Forms: Allowing them to customize their specific P2P form and receipt.
- View Reports: Enabling them to track their progress and see who has donated to their cause.
- No Administrative Rights: Ensuring they cannot see your organization's deposits, process manual payments, or manage other users.

Step 2: Apply Form Restrictions (Crucial)
To ensure they only see their specific campaign:
- After creating the user, click Edit Permissions.
- Locate the Restrict Access to Specific Forms field.
- Start typing the name or ID of their P2P campaign and select it from the list.
- Click Save Permissions.
What the P2P Fundraiser Sees
Once configured, the fundraiser's portal experience will be significantly streamlined:
1. Limited Dashboard
Their "Fundraising Forms" list will only show the campaigns you have assigned to them. The search result indicator at the top left will reflect this limited view (e.g., "Search results: 1 form(s)").
2. Isolated Reporting
When they visit the Reports section, the data is automatically filtered. They will only see transactions associated with their specific form. They will not be able to see:
- Total organization revenue.
- Transactions from other P2P fundraisers or general donation forms.
-
Organization bank deposit history.
3. Autonomy to Edit
Because "Edit Campaign Forms" is enabled, they can:
- Update the "Thank You" message on their receipts.
- Modify the goal or description on their fundraising page.
- Duplicate their form (if they have been granted access to more than one form).
Security Benefits
By using this method for P2P campaigns, your organization maintains a "Least Privilege" security model:
- Data Privacy: Donor data from your main campaigns remains confidential.
- Error Prevention: External users cannot accidentally modify your primary donation forms.
- Professionalism: You provide a dedicated workspace for your partners, making it easier for them to succeed without being overwhelmed by unnecessary menus.
